I was working in advertising, miles away from anything related to the gaming industry. Fast forward to today, and I'm proud to call myself a veteran of the gaming industry, having launched some of the largest esports scenes in the world.

This transformation didn't happen overnight, nor was it a stroke of luck. It was the result of applying key lessons that I've learned along the way. When I first considered applying to Riot Games, I looked at my background and couldn't see why anyone would hire me. My experience in advertising seemed worlds apart from the gaming industry. However, instead of giving up, I took a different approach. I figured out what was missing from my skill set and went out to acquire those lessons and experiences to qualify for the job.

I maintain a list of audacious projects that I can't pull off... yet. Every year or so, I dust it off and make phone calls to see if they are possible yet. Through this process, I erase some, modify others, and even add new ones. In a good year, I'll be able to take one of these crazy ideas and try to make them happen.

This approach has led to some of my most significant achievements in the gaming industry. For instance, the idea of building Vietnam's first esports stadium seemed impossible at first, but by revisiting this goal regularly and adapting my approach, we eventually made it a reality.
