FAQ
Who is this coaching for?
This coaching is for professionals in the gaming industry at all career stages. Designers, producers, engineers, artists, QA professionals, and executives. I also work with people building their own gaming companies, side hustles, and startups. The visibility problem doesn’t discriminate by discipline or seniority.
I’m not currently job searching. Is coaching still relevant?
Absolutely. Many of my clients are employed but stuck. They’re not getting promoted, not getting recognized, or not building the visibility that protects them when layoffs hit. Career coaching isn’t just about finding your next job. It’s about owning your career before you NEED to.
How is this different from generic career coaching?
I’m not a generic career coach who read a book about gaming. I spent years at Riot Games on the hiring side. I’ve worked at Deloitte Consulting. I’ve founded agencies. I’ve hired, managed, and unfortunately laid off people. I know what hiring managers want because I was one. My coaching is built on frameworks developed from thousands of real gaming industry interactions, not theory.
Why should I invest in coaching? Is it worth it?
Companies invest heavily in executive coaching for a reason. A PWC survey found an average ROI of 7 times the initial investment, with some seeing up to 49 times return. Consider this: how much is a single promotion worth to you? How much is your dream job worth? What if coaching could help you get there faster than you thought possible? When you look at the most successful people in the world, almost all of them have coaches. Michael Jordan, Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt, Oprah Winfrey. Many top performers and leaders in gaming have coaches too. They just don’t tell you.
What results can I expect?
That depends on where you’re starting and how much work you put in. But to give you a sense: David secured a 20% salary increase with 3 offers in 2 months. Jeff landed a senior producer role with a 15% raise in 4 months. Zach got a director position 2 months post-layoff. These results come from combining tactical skills with a visibility-first mindset shift.
Do you work with people outside the US?
Yes. I’m based in Singapore and work with clients globally. My two Guild cohorts cover Asia/Europe and Americas/Canada time zones. Individual coaching sessions are scheduled to work across time zones. I’ve lived and worked in 6 countries so I understand the nuances of global career markets.
I’m not in gaming. Is this right for me?
I do have clients outside gaming. My one non-negotiable is that all clients remain committed to personal growth and improvement. If you are motivated and want to advance your career, you might be a great fit. But my deepest expertise and strongest results come from working with gaming professionals.
What’s the difference between therapy, consulting, and coaching?
Therapy is backward-looking, focused on healing past experiences. Consulting is about giving expert advice. Coaching is forward-looking and focused on helping you arrive at YOUR best solutions. As a CPCC-certified coach, my mission is to help you find your own answers to the toughest problems in your career. I don’t tell you what to do. I help you see what you already know but can’t access on your own.
Are our coaching discussions confidential?
Yes. All sessions are strictly confidential.
How do I get started?
Join the waiting list. You’ll answer a few short questions about where you are and what you want, and I’ll personally review them to figure out two things: what’s actually holding you back (it’s probably not what you think), and whether my approach is the right fit for what you need.
