The Interview Mistake That Makes You Sound Junior
You can have years of experience and still sound junior in the room. The tell is narrating tasks instead of decisions.
Task language vs ownership language
Junior-sounding: "I was asked to update the tutorial and I made the changes." Senior-sounding: "Tutorial drop-off was hurting early retention, so I proposed a shorter path, aligned design and analytics, and drop-off fell after we shipped it."
Show the decision
Interviewers hire judgment. Say what options you considered, what you picked, and what tradeoff you accepted. That is how leads sound.
Fix in practice
For every story, add one sentence that starts with "I decided" or "I pushed for." If you cannot find one, you are still describing tickets.
